Looking for a different (and delicious) way to eat pizza? Oh friend, I can’t wait to share this Pear and Gorgonzola Salad Pizza recipe with you!

Yes, I said pizza and salad together!

It’s a wonderfully scrumptious four cheese pizza with pears and walnuts on the bottom topped with fresh greens, gorgonzola cheese and walnuts and tossed with an amazing apple cider thyme vinaigrette.

It’s been my favorite pizza by far for years… and I recently found a way to make it even faster and easier than ever before (which has this very busy mama quite happy).

Looking for a different (and delicious) way to eat pizza? I can’t wait to share this Pear and Gorgonzola Salad Pizza recipe with you! Yes, I said pizza and salad together! And I want to show you my trick to making it faster (and gluten free)! You’ll love this easy weeknight dinner recipe!

What’s the secret? Using Freschetta Gluten Free Thin & Crispy 4 Cheese Medley Pizza as the base!

Now, if you’re gluten free like my husband and I are, you know that usually gluten free frozen pizza tastes pretty much like it sounds (like warm cardboard).

But this new pizza from Freschetta truly tastes fantastic! The crust is crisp and chewy like a good pizza should be. No sacrificing here!

And best of all, the four cheese combo makes it the perfect base for putting together this awesome Pear and Gorgonzola Salad Pizza recipe in under 20 minutes!

Which makes creating this pizza recipe’s simple-yet-gourmet flavors incredibly do-able anytime, even on busy weeknights. I’ve even made this recipe as a fancy appetizer for a dinner party (I just cut the pizza into small squares). Yep—this Pear and Gorgonzola Salad Pizza recipe is gluten-free, easy-to-make and great-tasting. It’s a yummy combination that I know will become a favorite recipe in your home too!

Pear and Gorgonzola Salad Pizza

Pear and Gorgonzola Salad Pizza

Ingredients

  • 1 Freschetta Gluten Free Thin & Crispy 4 Cheese Medley Frozen Pizza
  • 4-5 cups mixed salad greens
  • 1 Green Anjou Pear, sliced thin
  • 1/4 cup walnuts, chopped
  • 4 Tbsp Gorgonzola cheese, crumbled
  • 3 Tbsp Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • 3 Tbsp Apple Cider Vinegar
  • 1 tsp honey
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • dash salt and pepper
  • Optional: dried cranberries (not shown here, but are a great addition to the salad!)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Remove the pizza from its wrapping and place it on a baking stone or cookie sheet.

  • Arrange the sliced pear in a circular pattern on top of the Freschetta frozen pizza (save 3-4 slices to use later as a topping for the salad).

  • Add about half the chopped walnuts to the pizza, making a group of walnuts in the center of the pears and then sprinkling a little over the whole pizza itself.

  • Gorgeous, right?! I love how the pears make that pretty pattern.

  • Place the pizza in the oven and cook for 12 to 16 minutes per package directions.

  • I’m so thankful that Freschetta makes it easy to enjoy delicious gluten-free pizza in minutes! Our kids eat regular pizza from time to time, and it’s nice that my husband and I can easily make our own gluten free version too (and not feel like we’re missing out)!

  • While the pizza is cooking, quickly assemble the salad. Add the gorgonzola cheese and the rest of the walnuts to the mixed greens in a medium sized bowl.

  • Combine the salad dressing ingredients (extra virgin olive oil, apple cider vinegar, honey, garlic powder and thyme) in a small bowl and whisk them quickly with a fork.

  • Add the salad dressing to the salad and toss everything together.

  • By this time, the wonderful smell of pizza will be filling your kitchen! And just think—it’s gluten-free pizza that tastes great and requires zero work from you! YES!

  • When it’s done cooking, it will look like this wonderful yumminess.

  • Yes, all that golden-browned cheese and toasted pear and walnut goodness does smell as good as it looks, I promise!

  • Now all that’s left is assembly! Carefully spoon the salad on top of the pizza. Arrange the remaining 3-4 pear slices on top.

  • And you’re done! It’s an incredibly tasty salad pizza gone gourmet and gluten free!

  • And it’s just darn pretty to look at, don’t you think?

  • All that’s left is to slice and serve! Enjoy with your family!

Wow, that recipe looks amazing! I’ve put some pear slices on sandwiches before, but never on pizza. It sounds like it would taste great, though. My kids and I love to put lettuce (I add a squirt of lemon juice) on our pizza. Yes, SALAD pizza tastes oh so good – even for non-salad people! 🙂

Thank you! Yes, I’ve experimented with other salad/pizza combos too (sounds like you have as well with your lettuce/lemon juice combo!). Thanks for sharing!
